Black Brotha...I love ya - Week! Post 4 - BLACK INVENTORS

Knowing our history is sooooo important. It does something miraculous to our spirit and subconscious mind when we know of people who are of our culture or ancestry who have done great things to change how man kind operates.

Below I've listed, not all but some of the great black inventors of time, whose inventions are still used today....over 100 years later. Freakin Awesome!

If they can use their minds and put it to great use then so can we. These gentlemen did not have technology as we do or many were slaves and really, their opportunity was pretty much non existent. They really had to fight to produce their ideas.

Many patents were stolen from them and other people took credit. Bare in mind a lot of inventions today came from Black men and women but someone else's name is on it. I'm not trying to go into that but we're a lot more mentally/creatively/ambitiously wealthy than we've been led to believe.

Figure out your purpose and make no excuse. Pray to God, meditate and ask that it is revealed to you....I PROMISE  it will come to you. What is it that you love to do? Make it happen! You got this boo!!!!  I believe in you all from the depths of my existence I do.

Elijah McCoy
(1843–1929)

He invented an oil-dripping cup for trains.

Other inventors tried to copy McCoy's oil-dripping cup. But none of the other cups worked as well as his, so customers started asking for "the real McCoy." That's where the expression comes from. ;) cool huh!

Lewis Latimer
(1848–1928)

He invented an important part of the light bulb — the carbon filament which made the light bulb last longer.

Latimer worked in the laboratories of both Thomas Edison and Alexander Graham Bell.

Lewis had many interests. He was an inventor, draftsman, engineer, author, poet, musician, and, at the same time, a devoted family man and philanthropist.

George Washington Carver
(1860–1943)

He developed peanut butter and 400 plant products!

They said 400, not 1 or 2 or 10 or 50 ....400!! Whaaaat! You better go GWC!

Garrett Morgan
(1877–1963)

He invented the gas mask and the traffic signal
The traffic signal!! Thank you Garrett because some folks would not be able to do with out it. He simply observed an accident between a horse carriage and a car that ended in a tragedy....this inspired the idea. Traffic signals aren't going anywhere and have saved us, truly.

Otis Boykin
(1920–1982)

He invented the electronic control devices for guided missiles, IBM computers, and the pacemaker. <<< I mean REALLY!!!

Boykin invented 28 different electronic devices.

Charles Brooks

He designed the street sweeper wayyy back in 1896.

The street sweeper initially faced a lot of resentment from workers who felt they could do a better job. Eventually, as cities grew bigger and more and more litter accumulated, the street sweeper became indispensable until this day 2014 when I have to move my car to the other side of the street...yes Thanks Charles.
